🎏 Bmw 320D F30 Common Problems
16. Likes Received: 0. Just bought 2nd hand 320d F30 from the company ..currently at 51k km mileage fully maintained in AB no parts replacement so far warranty ending nov 13.. got an offer from BMW to extend warranty. Warranty - 3 years or 100,000km. BSRI - 2 years or 200,000km. top up MYR 9,600.
3. BMW 520d 2.0 Diesel Engine. The BMW 520d came with a 2.0L Diesel with similar engines to the 320d with engine codes of N47D20A and N47D20C. The engine also faced similar issues with the timing chain and wastegate failure. Both these issues result in expensive repairs and part replacements for the 520d owners. 4.
16 May 2020. #14. Going by the E90 owners group on Facebook, steps to fix the timing chain issue were taken in 2010/11 cars (there may be an engine code variant to reflect this). Nonetheless the chains still give bother, so I imagine the design flaw is inherent to the tensioner design and would occur in the F30 cars as well.

That said, F30 335 M Sport sedans seem to have people reporting a "limp mode" where the computer cuts power to the engine and revs the cooling fan up to maximum speed. Switching the car off and restarting removes the problem for some length of time, from days to months to forever, depending on who's reporting it.

Oct 23, 2013. #20. My old E90 320d '06 was 145 000km before she died. And never had a turbo problem, she was stock. The only problem I can remember having with this car is the door actuators broke once. Which is a very common problem. And my radios screen started dyeing intermittently (sometimes it would be fine).
floydarogers said: If your thermostat fails, the Service Engine Soon light will come on. They're designed to fail open; this keeps coolant flowing. If they failed shut the engine would almost immediately overheat. In addition to the SES, if it does fail open, you won't have much heat from the heater.
